About us
A church family on Cheyenne Boulevard.
A parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in Toledo since 23 March 2003.
Who we are
Rooted in Toledo, reaching the world.
Mount Zion Chapel is a Bible-believing, Spirit-filled family of believers from many nations who call Toledo home. We gather every Sunday at 2239 Cheyenne Boulevard to worship, hear the Word and encourage one another, and we scatter through the week to love our neighbours.
As part of The Redeemed Christian Church of God we share one mission with thousands of parishes worldwide: to make heaven, to take as many people with us as possible, and to plant churches within five minutes of every home. Pastor L. M. Haastrup leads our church family with a heart for prayer, discipleship and community.
Our journey
Faithful through
every chapter.
A story of worship, perseverance and a place to call home.
From the church history and 2019 anniversary programme.
23 MARCH 2003
The first gathering
Mount Zion Chapel was inaugurated at the YWCA in downtown Toledo. A small beginning set a lasting journey of worship and community in motion.
THE EARLY YEARS
Faith through every move
After a fire at the YWCA, services continued in a rented apartment basement. The church later worshipped in shared premises and rented spaces around Toledo, including Glendale Avenue and South Reynolds Road.
PHILLIPS AVENUE
A home of our own
The church purchased a building on Phillips Avenue and renovated it gradually. It became a home for the congregation for several years.
2019
A new chapter on Cheyenne Boulevard
Our 16th anniversary programme marked the dedication of the new church building at 2239 Cheyenne Boulevard. It celebrated the faithfulness of God through the church’s journey.
What we believe
Built on the Word of God
We hold to the historic Christian faith as taught in the Bible and confessed by The Redeemed Christian Church of God worldwide.
The Bible
We believe the whole Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God and our final authority for faith and life.
One God, three persons
We believe in one eternal God who exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the creator and sustainer of all things.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God, born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, raised bodily from the dead and coming again.
Salvation by grace
We believe salvation is a free gift received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, not earned by good works.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit lives in every believer, empowering us for holy living, service and witness with His gifts.
The Church and the hope ahead
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, called to worship, fellowship and mission as we await His glorious return.
Our mission
To make heaven and take as many people with us as possible.
We pursue holiness, preach the gospel and disciple believers so that every member is ready for eternity and busy bringing others along.
Our vision
A church within five minutes of every home in Greater Toledo.
Through evangelism, church planting and practical care, we want every neighbour in our city to meet Jesus and find a family of faith close by.
Come and see for yourself.
The best way to get to know us is to worship with us. Join us this Sunday at 9:30 AM.
